Missions

Preamble

The Evangelism Department is an outreach office of CBU-UCZ Fellowship whose sole mandate is to proclaim forth the glorious Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all the Copperbelt University Student Populace and beyond. This is no mundane work but a solemn divine charge of going about telling the prodigals about the good news of God’s salvation, “how that Christ died for our sins and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15: 3, 4). The ministerial agency upholds that salvation is the heart of the biblical message and that it is always “good news.” Its great news of God’s amazing love, his forgiveness and adoption into royalty.

Since the fellowship’s inception in 2004, the evangelism department has been headed successively by great men who endeavored to keep fervent the commission of the evangelistic call of Christ’s followers. From down the years, these leading giants and their terms of office include:

2004

2005

2006-2007 Aaron Mulinda

2007-2009 Innocent Chongo Mulenga

2009-2010 Richard Mapungwe

2010-2012 Christopher Kapamba

2012 to present Garry Mutale Chola

Vision

Riding on the fellowship’s mission statement “An Academy of Divine Realities”, the Evangelism Department has the onus of expounding, like as did Aquila and Priscilla to Apollos, sound doctrines of the Christian faith to all believers in matters that not only concern their own salvation, but also the work of the evangelistic ministry, in which they are engaged.

“…whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly”, who eventually became so eminent that he “helped them much which had believed through grace” (Acts 18:26, 27), by the evangelical truths he preached. The department is endowed with grace to indoctrinate scriptural knowledge for working out one’s own salvation and also to impart unquenchable passion for soul winning. One can never be a member of this word-fired evangelistic team and not cry out in loyalty to duty like the Apostle Paul: “Woe unto me, if i preach not the gospel!”

Programs

To execute its work, the evangelism department organizes such gospel campaigns as:

First Year’s Evangelism

First Year’s Evangelism is a campus wide function of the CBU Christian Community and is hosted at the commencement of every university academic year throughout first year’s registration week. During this work, evangelists endeavor to preach Christ’s salvation to lost arrivals; welcomes all brethren into the Community of faith, the sole environment guaranteeing a more richer and thrilling experience with God; and also advises on both academic matters and on how well to find meaningful friendships with new persons who can aide their intellectual and personal development.

Campus Crusades

Gospel crusades are purely evangelistic in approach, and brought about in conjunction with all participant fellowships of the CBU Christian Community. Their most ideal venue is the salvation square, commonly known as Monk Square.

Outreach Missions

Outreach mission are deliberate evangelistic moves taken to break camp and reach the general communities beyond the university vicinity, with glad tidings of salvation. These takes the form of visits to penitentiaries and hospitals, and door to door preaching as evangelists go their ways into the streets of the targeted localities, preaching Christ crucified with great demonstrations of the anointing by which the sick and brokenhearted are healed, devils exorcised, the dead raised back to life, and most profoundly many wretched souls are saved and changed forever.

The evangelism department also is a right-hand office of the missions department, as it provides counsel on the missions outreach strategy and approach and sources for Christian literature such as bibles and tracts and other print which are distributed to new disciples in every particular evangelized missions area.

Membership

The evangelistic office and the grace by which to execute it are both from God. Therefore, only those individual members of the CBU-UCZ Fellowship who, bound in the spirit, know verily that necessity is specially laid upon them to do the work of biblical evangelism are especially welcome to fortify this established team of the gospel envoys.
